Little Martha (E Tuning)
See Allman Brothers MIDI Sample page, top of first page, grey stripe... This is my rendition of the Allman Brothers "Little Martha". I tuned my banjo down 1.5 steps or the equivalent of 3 frets to the key of E. When tuned this way, you're fingers are playing as though you are still in the standard G tuning, but you're ears are 'hearing' the key of E, because ALL strings have been tuned downward in pitch to match an open E chord. I listened to a You Tubed video of Duane Allman playing the tune as it was done on his first recording of this great tune... and then did what I had to do to make the melody work on the 5-string banjo in Scruggs style.

Midnight Rider: Key of D: Fairly Easy
See Allman Brothers MIDI Sample page, top of first page, grey stripe... Fakebook arrangement with ALL lyrics. Key of D, out of standard G tuning. All open position. Not a 'solo' per se...the banjo plays a supporting role in this arrangement...mimicking the guitar part here and in the original.
