| Chromatic Chord Progression in C featuring Smooth Jazz Chord Changes This chord-packed, but fairly short chord progression features dominant, chromatic chord movement, i.e., the highest notes of each chord move one fret at a time in a melodically descending manner featuring voice-leading, whch makes the chord changes very smooth to the ear. Good exercise for the ears and the fingers... not to mention good knowledge for the aspiring picker. Chord exercises such as this one, serve to educate the ears and mind to what's possible with chords... and to train your ears to recognize these types of sounds found in higher forms of music. All it can do is help make a better educated picker with a highly trained ear for progressions! See NEW TABS page for complete MIDI sound file. $1.00 |
| | Easy Jazz & Pop Chords in C - Chord Study/Tune... This exercise for the fingers and ears features a very simple forward roll pattern with alternating melody notes and very easy-to-play chords that require no more than 2 and 3 fingers. See NEW TABS page for complete MIDI sound sample file. $1.00 |
| | Subtle Changes in C - Smooth Chord Changes in C This chord progression in C uses Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished, Sus4, 6th, Major 7th, Dominant 7th and other similar chord forms to achieve 'smooth transitions' between chords. Mostly in an effort to challenge myself to find new sounds... new to my ears... in fairly easy-to-finger chord movements on the banjo fingerboard. I would cite Mel Bay and Jethro Burns among numerous others who were 'chord masters' that could generate what I find to be amazingly cool, smooth-sounding, advanced harmonies on their respective instruments. This exercise represents my own desire to achieve that same goal. See NEW TABS page for a complete MIDI sound sample of this exercise. $1.00 |
