This is an odd collection for the banjo. By 'Odd', I mean there is Standard Scruggs style playing to be found in some of the arrangements, but none of them would qualify as 'true' Scruggs playing all the way through. Some contain NO Scruggs style. However, A Scruggs picker would be able to quickly decipher the tabs. Clawhammer players...not so much. They would be completely lost in my opinion.
The technique required to play Zeppelin tunes on the banjo is all over the place technique-wise, i.e., Scruggs, straight stumming (as on a guitar), melodic style and generic 'fingerstyle', i.e., 'whatever it takes' to get the job done...possibly all in the same arrangement. Melody and riffology is important to me (I also play guitar....since 1968) and I try to preserve those things first and foremost...however, the banjo doesn't lend itself in a direct transfer in every situation. Having said all of this, any fan of Zeppelin will quickly recognize what I have here. Every piece here would fall under the generalized category of Fairly Challenging to VERY Challenging! Knowing the Zeppelin tunes from 'memory', meaning you could hum the melody out loud upon demand (or request) would help you greatly in learning and executing these amazingly cool tunes. Good Luck!
